One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.
One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
The grandson thought about it for a minute and than asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed”.
Really like this one. I may have seen it before.
The problem is it seems easier to find food for the evil one. Each of those attributes just seems so small that it’s hard to realize what you’re really doing before it’s too late.
As you watch / witness yourself, your reactions and your emotions, you’ll find the good one gets more food over time.
It is just like exercising or eating good food – at first it seems take a lot of attention. But after a bit of trying, it becomes second nature. Then you are at a new level and can evolve further from there.
