That’s pretty depressing.
I blame the education system for teaching people that capitalism is bad and the central government knows best.
I hope we form a new political party – Federalism and Capitalism – FedCap. But it would require a lot of education, as a lot of people have now been brainwashed into believing things I don’t agree with. I figure America is the last (only!?) nation that has freedom like ours had and we should work to preserve it. Socialists and Socialism can haggle over the 192 other nations. Ours should be unique.
I’m frustrated, but I’m comfortable with the results.Negative thoughts run through my head, but I dismiss them. Things like ACORN, Soros, even whether McCain got the nomination because of Dems switching parties for the primaries. But the results are in, and so it goes.
I’ve told many people that this nation is a land of ‘Jacksonian principles’. (I learned that from DenBeste – I miss his writing very much.)  The core point is that we will tolerate a TON of issues before we finally mobilize and do something. And then, when we mobilize, we do it thoroughly. We’ve done it plenty of times before. You do it in your personal life when you finally take action about something that is bothering you. Well, we obviously haven’t reached our ‘Jackson point’. It will happen when individuals begin taking actions that they haven’t taken before. The actions – participating in government. When you come home from work and tell your family that you are going to a local government meeting, be it city council, state session, or court judgment, then you have reached your ‘Jackson point’. Until you can be motivated to get off the couch, go to one less sporting event, or watch one less movie, then things aren’t that bad. Until then, America will continue to move toward Socialism by people who are motivated, people who are organized, and people who are sacrificing a bit of their personal lives in order to bring the government they want.
Oh, and one more (kinda related) point about those people who have brought the government they wanted. I don’t think Obama (congratulations on your election, btw) is going to get much done in the socialist direction. Congress isn’t that socialist yet. The net result is that a whole lot of liberals and lefties are gonna be mutha-fookin’ pissed off. They have put tons of their lives on the line for a guy who is a ‘blank slate’ and has his own agenda.I think his administration is going to be worse than Carter and worse than Bush 43. Obama’s economic and energy policies are going to cause a lot of harm, his foreign policy is going to empower many aggressive leaders, and his appointments in office are going to reflect the favors he owes his political success to. He owes a lot of people favors and he is going to have to appoint people to pay them back. The result is bureaucratic leaders who are far worse than the morons Bush 43 appointed. And Obama is going to be just as much of a spineless twit and not remove them from their unearned positions that they are unqualified to hold. That will result in scandal after scandal. And after a few months of Obama not delivering things to the MSM, Kos (which is Arabic for ‘vagina’, by the way), and Democratic Underground, they are going to turn on him with great fury. All of the investigating they didn’t do before the eleciton, they’ll do after. Obama is arrogant enough to believe he has the MSM in his pocket and they will need to sell copy to stay alive. Scandal will sell copy. If only for a few years.
Rome may be burning, so I’m picking up some marshmellows….
Local government? There are so many hippies here, though… But we did get off the couch and go to a Goldberg/Beinart debate before the election. That’s at least something, right?
It’ll be interesting to see what the MSM does now that Obama, after his national security briefing, has realized that there are real problems in this real world in which some of us live.
