I heard this quote recently, and it got me thinkin’;
“Prayer doesn’t tell God anything he doesn’t already know.”
I also heard it as;
“God doesn’t need your prayers – you do.”
Hmmm, interesting.
I’d like to write more about it, but I’m short on time and sleep.
Hopefully, I’ll get the time soon.
Shhh Don’t tell Mama Vi, but that is my feeling, too. It’s also why I pray just like I talk. To me, he already knows my heart, my mind. I don’t sugar coat it with God.
But yeah….I’ve always believed it is more an expression of faith to ASK. He already knows…
C. S. Lewis once shared with a reported that the reason he prayed to his Omniscient God was because he needed to express his pain & it always made Him feel better.
That being said, I’ll share with you my shortest prayer uttered ever: “Help”.
He does already know what we need, but I think sometimes He’s waiting for us to ask. Like He knows exactly what we need, but we keep asking for the wrong thing, and when we finally get it right, it happens.
That’s a good perspective, Sarah.
